Statement of Conditions of the Award
Wilfred F. & Ruth Davison Langelier Scholarships in Sanitary/Environmental
Engineering will be made available to undergraduate students majoring in Civil
Engineering and/or whose main field of study is Sanitary/Environmental Engineering,
principally concerned with the area of water and waste water treatment and environmental
water quality management and control.
Undergraduates at the junior or senior level with a GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0
scale) are eligible to apply. Students must attend at least one semester
in the 2014-2015 academic year in order to be eligible. Winners may
reapply and compete for the Langelier award each year.
Six hours (completed or in progress) in environmental engineering or environmental science courses are required. CME 216 (UIC) or CEE 330 (UIUC) must be completed or in progress.
Up to five total
awards shall be made to students of either the UIC and UIUC campuses.
Part-time students (undergraduates carrying fewer than 12 semester hours) are NOT eligible
to receive the award.
Scholarships shall be awarded to U of I students who have attained outstanding academic
achievements, regardless of the students' need for financial assistance.
- Selection will be based on GPA (50%); amount and breadth of coursework (25%), and the final 25% is based on research and work experiences as well as independent study and strength of essay.
Winners will be announced in late April, 2014
